Developers from Piranha Games have announced the release date of a new game based on the famous BatteTech franchise. Story-driven mecha action MechWarrior 5: Clans will be released on October 3rd on PC (Steam, EGS), PlayStation 5 and XBOX X (S version still not confirmed).
MechWarrior 5: Clans will feature a full-fledged story campaign, telling about the participation of the Smoke Jaguar clan during the first invasion of the Inner Sphere. The player will take control of a squad of young fighters and go through a difficult path filled with battles on different planets and dramatic events.
Despite the fact that the developers kept the name MechWarrior 5, the project will be very different from the sandbox MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. The game is created on Unreal Engine 5 (when Mercenaries was developed on EU4), and the gameplay has received a lot of innovations. For example, players will be able to control their allies through a special gaming tablet: give commands to move or attack enemies. The extensive mech customization options have received a big update as you control “clan mechs” which are different from the “Inner Sphere” vehicles.
