US company Mayman Aerospace will unveil a full-scale model of its new futuristic Razor P100 vertical take-off and landing UAV during US Special Operations Forces Week (SOF Week 2024), which runs from May 6 to 10. The Razor P100, capable of carrying a payload of up to 45 kg, represents a line that will receive more powerful drones: the P500 (up to 220 kg) and a possible model with a payload capacity of 450 kg.
The versatility of the Razor family makes them suitable for a wide range of military operations. These vehicles can be configured to operate squadrons of more than 1,000 UAVs, with variants specialized for a variety of missions, from counter-aircraft to missile strikes and cargo transport. The compact size of the Razor allows the drone to take off and land in an area of 3 m by 3 m. The drone is capable of operating in helicopter or fighter mode and has high maneuverability.
Larger models in the Razor line will be able to be equipped with Hellfire or Brimstone missiles for precision strikes. In addition, UAVs will be able to carry light cruise missiles, conduct electronic warfare, and suppress enemy air defenses.
The California-based company is announcing flight tests of the first Razor prototype in the third quarter of 2024. These drones are designed to be deployed not only from ground positions, but also from aircraft and ships. They are capable of speeds up to Mach 0.75.
Mayman already has approximately $120 million in pre-orders for Razor from customers in Europe and Australia. The company has received $3.25 million from the US Department of Defense for its projects. Mayman also recently announced its SkyField AI-powered autonomous operating system for its Razor drones.
